Normalisation

Turning free text into consistent fields you can filter and group by.

Job data arrives as prose. Normalisation converts a location string into city, region and country; a salary phrase into a number, currency and period; and a title into something groupable.

It is where most of the value of a job data product sits, and where providers differ most. A raw listing is cheap; a listing whose salary is comparable to ten thousand others is not.
