Definition

Posting age

Days between the date an employer published a listing and today.

The single most useful outside signal about a listing. In a 2026 survey of 1,000 US job seekers, 27.2% named listing age as the strongest indicator that a role does not exist — more than any other signal offered.

Age is not the same as "days live", which implies continuous observation. Age uses the publication date only, and makes no claim about whether anyone watched the listing in between.

It is reset by republishing, so an employer who deletes and re-posts appears fresher than they are.
